What to do if you have an accident with one of our cars.
When you’re on holiday in Crete, dealing with a rental car accident is the last thing you want to experience. But if it happens, don’t panic—we’re here to help.
Steps to Follow:
- Check for Injuries – First, ensure everyone in the car is safe. Also, check your surroundings and any other vehicles involved.
- Move to a Safe Spot – If possible, pull over to the side of the road safely. If the accident is serious, call 166 immediately for medical assistance. If there's a risk of explosion, clear the area. Do not leave the accident scene—insurance coverage will not apply if you do.
- Contact Us Immediately – Call us at +30 695 9993667 or +30 28310 50000. Our insurance representative will arrive at your location.
- Document the Accident – Take photos and detailed notes about the accident, including:
- The make, model, and color of all vehicles involved.
- Any distinguishing details of the other cars.
- The exact location of the accident, including street names and traffic conditions.
- A description of how the accident happened.
- Do Not Admit Fault – Even if you think you are responsible don't admit it. Also, be aware that locals often blame tourists first, even if they are at fault. If other parties are aggressive, avoid confrontation and wait for the police to arrive. Do not sign any statements or agreements regarding fault or damage payments.
Payment for Damages
- If you have full insurance coverage and the accident was your fault, you will only be required to pay under specific conditions:
- Any illegal actions or negligence leading to damage.
- Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Unauthorized persons driving the vehicle.
- Violation of traffic laws and road regulations.
- Driving on unsuitable roads causing damage to the undercarriage.
- Failure to report vehicle theft to us and the police within 6 hours.
- Using the vehicle for unlawful purposes (e.g., carrying illegal goods).
Following these steps will help ensure a smooth process in case of an accident. Our team is always available to assist you and make sure you continue enjoying your trip in Crete!
